The convenience of travelling by bus drops each time a transfer is required. The routes that cross 900 East and 2100 South travel in completely different directions. Thus a transfer may require crossing a busy street and waiting for an extended period of time. This design seeks to minimize the hassle associated with a transfer by improving the pedestrian environment. Bus stop “plazas” are suggested at each corner that create adequate space for an enhanced shelter and improved landscaping. Traffic lanes are removed to shorten crosswalks. Bus stops are moved to be within a 150’ diameter area. This design also suggests providing easier street crossing by adding an “all walk phase” allowing diagonal access to opposite corners.
